As I learned when I interviewed the CEO of W.C. Bradley Co.’s outdoor cooking brands (which includes Charbroil), they all about cooking versatility. They want consumers to be able to cook a bunch of different styles of food on Charbroil products. Two great examples of that are the Performance Series griddle and the Commercial Series gas grill.
If a new patent that came out is any indication, Charbroil will be continuing down the path of cooking versatility. They have designed a griddle that has sections on the surface that can be swapped out for different styles of cooking.
There are already a ton of different foods that you can cook on a griddle, but this takes it to the next level. There’s a circular section that can be changed out to let you cook food that you normally can’t on a griddle.
Some examples contemplated in the patent include putting a pizza steel there, a wok, or even a steamer. With a low profile lid, it could even be used for baking.
Another section on the griddle plate rectangular, and is an idea that we’ve seen implemented on the Performance Series Deluxe griddle and the Vibe. It can be swapped out for a searing station for cooking steaks and other food over high heat.
We don’t know if Charbroil will ever bring the circular section to market, but the fact that they’ve released griddles with the sear station gives us hope. It’s a cool idea to push the envelope on what a griddle can do.
