Weber Grills announced today the launch of an accelerator of new growth platforms and brand extensions in the areas of product, technologies, and partnerships. The new growth subsidiary will be called 1952 Ventures LLC, presumably named after the year that George Stephen Sr. began selling Weber grills out of a sheet metal shop. Troy Shay, Chief Commercial Officer of Weber Inc., has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the new unit and Chief Growth Officer of Weber. The CookOut News team will continue to monitor 1952 Ventures and report on any developments.
While Weber has always been innovating, with releases like the Weber Traveler portable gas grill, the venture capital style accelerator will help Weber Grills stay ahead of emerging technologies in the outdoor cooking industry.
