Traeger claimed that the bag statements “Mesquite/ 100% pure hardwood” and “Hickory/100% pure hardwood” are true. The bags don’t state “100% pure mesquite hardwood” or “100% pure hickory hardwood.” Wood like alder and oak is used for it’s desirable burn characteristics, which improves performance.

Traeger said in a recently filed agreement that it will settle the case for $1.5 million. Approval of the settlement is scheduled for April 2nd, 2025.

The settlement will be paid to classes in Utah and California for consumer. Half of the settlement will be in the form of $3 coupons for bags of Traeger pellets. The other half will cover attorney’s fees, court costs, and awards to class representatives.
