After a long, protracted court battle, it would appear that the legal actions between Traeger and Green Mountain Grills (GMG) is finally over. They stemmed from Traeger alleging that Green Mountain Grills infringed on their patents regarding connected grilling.
For those not familiar, a summary of the years long dispute is on GMG’s website. Since the start of the lawsuit, there have been many additional WiFi connected pellet grills introduced to the market.
It’s all history now, as the most recent appeal in the case has been settled and dropped. According to The BBQ Central Show, indications were given that no additional legal actions will be brought between the two companies.
With this in the rearview mirror, it will be interesting to see how, if at all, it changes the future of GMG. They recently released a new pellet grill with a first of it’s kind infrared side burner. They also had started to branch out into wood chip grills.
