Pellet grill company recteq has a new version of their popular pellet grill the Patio Legend. It has many of the same features as the previous version, but the new one looks a little more refined and substantial.
They released the Patio Legend 410 two years ago as the first version of that model. It was aptly named Patio Legend because it’s a pretty compact grill, with 410 square inches of cooking space.
A big differentiator with the grill though is it had and industry leading temperature range up to 700 degrees F. The Patio Legend 410 appears to have reached the end of it life because it no longer appears on the recteq website.
Patio Legend Updates
It’s been replaced by a new version, the Patio Legend 400. While it has 10 square inches less cooking space, it makes up for the minor space decrease in other areas.

The most obvious change is in the appearance of the new grill. It looks like a smaller version of the Backyard Beast 1000, with the controller and hopper on the other side, a front shelf, and the bottom shelf looking a little sturdier. With those looks comes some added prep space for the grill.
With the new looks, the pellet hopper increased its capacity by 1 lb. It can now hold 15 lbs of pellets for long cooks.
Same Features
Beyond the looks, the features that people liked on the previous Patio Legend remain untouched. The dual band WiFi controller looks the same, the temperature range remains the same, and the large amount of stainless steel is still there.
Other good news is the price also remains untouched. The grill still retails for $699.99 (check price), which is very competitive for its features.
