Pit Boss is rolling out their new grills for 2025 and they just released one of my favorites. They released a new version of the Pit Boss Pro Series, another Lowe’s exclusive, like the recently released DX models.
It can be hard to follow along with all the different Pit Boss models, because they do a lot of retailer exclusives, so there are tons of models to keep track of. To me the Pro Series are the top tier Pit Boss grills. They have the most features, and the nicest controller of any of the models.
Features and Specs
The following specs are for the Pro Series 1300 4th Edition. The Pro Series has models of different sizes to choose from.
- Retail price of $799 (check price)
- 1300 square inches of cooking area
- LCD digital touchscreen controller
- Wireless connectivity
- Flame broiler lever for direct access to the fire
- Smoke venting in the back
New for the 4th Edition
The 4th edition Pro Series takes what was great about the previous model and adds a few refinements. The first is they created a better easy cleaning system for ash and grease.
The pellet hopper on the 4th edition is three pounds larger for a massive 35 pound hopper. You could cook for a really long time with all that capacity.
They also changed the design of the pellet cleanout. The previous model had a chute in the back, while the new one has the pellets drop out the bottom when you want to change them out.
The YouTube video above does a great job explaining the features and changes. I differ with him on the purpose of the circular cover on the right side of the grill though. I think that’s just there for manufacturing purposes so they can share panels with different grills that have a side smokestack.
Why Choose the Pro Series?
There are no shortage of pellet grill options anymore, so what makes the Pro Series special. First and foremost, it offers a ton of value. At $799 it’s hard to beat all the features it has.
It has a really nice looking touchscreen controller, a flame broiler that you won’t find on other grills, and a massive pellet hopper. I think Pit Boss did also did a good job with the upgrades for the new model. It’s a small thing, but I really like what they did with the hinges on the lid too.
Make Sure it’s the 4th Edition
The links I put in this article are supposed to be for the latest version of the Pro Series. That being said, the specs and images on Lowe’s website still look like the previous model. If you buy the new Pro Series, I’d just double-check that it has all the features shown in the video to make sure you got the right one.
