As we were waiting for, Ooni announced their largest pizza oven yet today. The Ooni Koda 2 Max is not only their biggest pizza oven, but it is also their most advanced.
More Space, 2 Zones
The new pizza oven is much larger than their previous Koda ovens. Before, they offered a 12 inch and a 16 inch, but the Max has a whopping 24 inches of space. They gives plenty of space to cook as big a pizza as you want, or to cook other food with your pizza – even two pizzas.
Ooni makes cooking multiple things in the oven easier by not only having more space, but two zones. The Koda 2 Max as two pizza stones side-by-side, each with their own burner. This lets you cook things like pizza and wings at the same time.
Connected Cooking
The Koda 2 Max offers connected cooking through the new Ooni app. This marks the first step into connected cooking for Ooni.
It’s done through the Digital Hub on the pizza oven which has a colorful temperature display, showing temperature up to the max of 950 degrees F. The Hub also has two temperature probe ports to add more utility to the pizza.
The temperature of the pizza oven and the temperature probes can be monitored on the Ooni app. It looks like the app mostly offers readability, rather than control, but there does appear to be an option to stop your cook remotely.
Release Details
We won’t have to wait too much longer for the Ooni Koda 2 Max. The retail price will be $999 (check price) and it’s slated to be released on May 28th.
Improved Line-Up
Ooni has always made great products, but they’ve had a hole in product line-up in the larger ovens. Gozney has been dominant in that area with multiple offerings of more traditionally sized ovens. The Koda 2 Max helps shore up that category for Ooni and is a worthy competitor to the recently released Gozney S1.
