This year marks a big leap forward in wireless temperature probe technology. They no longer are hampered by limited range or a max temperature below what you’d grill at.

The latest wireless meat thermometer to join the BBQ arena is the MeatStick V, which has some notable improvements over its predecessor. It has better range with Bluetooth and WiFi, plus it boasts an industry best 1,200 degrees F temperature max.

Really High Heat

When you’re cooking steak, hitting the right internal temperature is the most important thing. A downside with previous wireless meat thermometers was the ambient sensor in the handle maxed out at under 600 degrees F. That’s fine for cooking barbecue, but temperatures get much higher than that for searing or cooking hot and fast.

MeatStick really upped their game with the V model for the max temperature. It has a ceramic handle that has a max temperature rating of 1,200 degrees F. That means you can use it for open fire grilling, or even in a pizza oven.

Improved Range

The MeatStick V uses two wireless signals to make sure that you can always connect to it. It uses Bluetooth 5.4 Coded PHY Long Range from the probe, which gives 900+ feet of range.

If you’re cooking where there is access to WiFi, place the base near the probe and it doubles as a WiFi bridge. This gives you essentially unlimited range on the temperature probe. You can use the MeatStick app with both signal types to always use its functionality.

Helps You Cook

The MeatStick V has six temperature sensors on it to help you cook in different ways. The one in the handle lets you know the temperature you’re cooking at (which we covered above) and the five others measure the food you’re cooking.

While you might be wondering why you need more that one to measure food temp, it’s because the MeatStick is more than just a meat thermometer. It also provides guidance to make sure you get your food cooked just how you want.

By using the different sensors it tells you when the probe is all the way in the coldest part of the meat. That prevents measuring your meat’s doneness incorrectly.

It also uses the sensor for to predict when your food will reach the desired doneness. That means no more wondering how long you have to cook for, the app tells you how long it should take.
