When shopping for a value priced grill, Monument is a common name that you’ll see out their. I’ve reviewed two different grills from the Mesa line, and they delivered for the price.
If you’re looking to get even more for your money, Monument Grills just expanded the Mesa line with two models that save more money. They are more stripped down versions of the 4-burner Mesa, but may have just enough features.
Features and Specs
- Retails for $319 in black (check price) or $329 in silver (check price)
- Has 405 square inches of primary cooking space and a warming rack with an addition 165 square inches
- There are two side shelves for prep and one of them folds down for storage
- Reaches 500 degrees F in 10 minutes
- The burners are made from 304 stainless steel for longevity
Stripped Down
To cut down on the cost from other grills in the Mesa line, the MF models ditch the cabinet design. I’m not worried about hiding my propane tank, and I don’t often use the cabinet for storage, so that’s a worthwhile cost save in my mind.
There also aren’t light-up knobs that change color when the grill gets hot, like the other Mesa models. Those look neat, but again, are worth saving money on if you’re more concerned with saving a little money.
The other nice features are all there though like the stainless burners and the glass viewing window. There’s also a grease drip tray underneath for keeping the grill clean.
Value Grill
In grilling, the old adage “you get what you pay for” rings true. That’s somewhat true with the Mesa line, but you do get more value for your money, which is what I’ve liked about the brand.
On the shopping listing for the Mesa MF models it says “stainless steel”. The only stainless steel we can see on the grill are the burners, which are quality 304 stainless, and the handle which is probably a lower quality stainless.
That’s not a knock on the grills, just to point out to keep your expectations realistic, and you’ll be happy with the grills. They are worth the little bit extra money over the really cheap grills that rust out in a season. Plus, they do a great job cooking, which is what you’re buying them for.
