While MEATER’s high end temperature probes steal the spotlight, they also recently released an entry level model to their line-up. You won’t find it on their website though, and there’s likely a good reason for that.
The MEATER SE retails for just $79.95 (check price), and it’s sold exclusively through Amazon. It’s a new-ish because it’s a different version of the Meater+, which has since been replaced by the MEATER Pro / 2 Plus.
Features and Specs
- Connects to the MEATER app through Bluetooth with a range of up to 165 feet
- Measures ambient temperature in addition to the temperature of your food
- Max ambient temperature of 527 degrees F
- Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning
- The base uses 1 AAA battery, and it’s all that’s needed to charge the probe
I’m guessing it’s not on MEATER’s website because they want to preserve their premium product image. Traeger, MEATER’s parent company, does something similar with their pellet grills.
On Traeger’s website they sell the Pro, Ironwood, and Timberline, keeping their line-up simple and following the good, better, best philosophy. Traeger also sells retailer exclusive models though that they don’t mention on their website.
