Lynx Launches New Kamado Grill that’s a Crossover from Kamado Joe

As we teased previously, Lynx has announced that they’ll have a new Kamado grill coming this September. It’s the first time since Kamado Joe joined Middleby that we’ve seen platform sharing across brands.

What’s in a Name?

Middleby has a history of literal names for their grills. Why name a portable grill the Take Anywhere 200, when you can name it the Masterbuilt Portable Charcoal Grill? Lynx stuck to that approach with this Kamado by going with the straightforward-named Lynx Kamado Grill.

Features and Specs

  • Comes in two good looking colors – Gloss Black and Matte Gray
  • 18″ design with 250 square inches of cooking space
  • 3-tiered stainless steel cooking racks with a half moon design gives space and flexibility for different cooking methods
  • Has a built-in thermometer to know what’s going on in your Kamado without opening it
  • Spring-assisted hinge and stainless steel latch makes opening easy and locks the heat in tight on closing
  • Stainless steel charcoal basket and stainless slide out ash drawer are durable and allow easy cleaning

Kamado Joe Roots

Just by looking at the Lynx Kamado it’s easy to tell it share a lot with the Kamado Joe Classic Joe Series III. It has the same size and many of the same features. There are some differences though that Lynx is hoping will likely command a higher price point to fit the outdoor kitchen brand.

Aesthetics

The easiest difference to spot is the Lynx Kamado ditches the Kamado Joe red for black and gray, which are more likely to fit in an outdoor kitchen. I like the new color options that ditch fun for more sophistication.

To go with the new colors, the Lynx model has a polished aluminum top vent and a polished ring around the body. It complete the look that Lynx was going for.

Features

The features are mostly the same between the Kamado Joe and Lynx Kamado. The main benefit of the Lynx is it comes with a stainless steel rotisserie that they promise can rotate up to 50-lbs of meat. That should mean that it’s strong enough to keep a chicken spinning even when it’s not perfectly balanced.
