EGGtoberfest is a special event every year because it’s rooted in customer enthusiasm for the brand, and a brand’s enthusiasm for its customers. It started in 1998 as a way for Big Green Egg to show appreciation to its loyal customers and provide a location for enthusiasts to join together.

What started as 15 cooks in its inaugural year has exploded to over 200 cook teams today, and cooking at the event is sold out. The growth of the event mimics the growth of the brand, as a Big Green Egg is top of mind for many people when they think of outdoor cooking.

This year EGGtoberfest returns to Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA on October 5th, 2024 from 10 AM to 4 PM. It’s an extra special EGGtoberfest because it’s the 50th anniversary of Big Green Egg.

A brand being just being around, let alone at the top of their game, for 50 years is an amazing accomplishment. To celebrate, there will be an official Guinness World Record attempt at EGGtoberfest for the largest serving of chicken wings ever. It’s in honor of founder Ed Fisher, and the dish that started it all.

An Event for Everyone

If you own an Egg or you’re a full-blown Egghead, obviously this event is for you, but it’s really an event for everyone. If you’ve ever wanted an Egg, it’s a great place to see what one can do, learn more about it, and they even sell the Eggs that were used for the event at a discount.

If you’re a human that eats food to live, it’s a great event in general to go to. You don’t have to be into grilling to go out and eat some great food and chase it with a frosty beverage.

I went to the event last year and had a great time. The venue is much better than for other cooking related events because, unlike an open field, it has infrastructure that makes being there easy. It’s a baseball stadium, so there’s plenty of seating and actual bathrooms.

The infield, outfield, and concourses are filled with cooking teams turning out delicious food. You can work your way around and try bites of an array of cuisines.

There’s also cooking demos and other entertainment there. It’s also an event you can bring kids to because there’s plenty of open space for them to run around, and they even have a kids zone.
