This morning to accompany Vista Outdoor’s Q1 2022 earnings release, they had another big announcement. Vista Outdoor is going to split into 2 separate public companies. The way the split will work is the Sporting Products company will house all of their ammunition brands while the Outdoor Products company will house all of their non-ammunition brands, including Camp Chef.
Under the new structure, the Outdoor Products company will have current Vista Outdoor CEO, Chris Metz at the helm. The new company will also focus on deploying their capital for organic growth and acquisitions, as opposed to issuing dividends. With the brands between the 2 companies being so different, this structure may make sense from a strategy standpoint. It will be interesting to see if American Outdoor Brands, a similar company, follows with this split, if the strategy works.
