Broil King to Release Two New Hybrid Pellet Grills this Year

Hybrid grills make it so one grill can do the work of two. In their most effective form, they are two complimentary cookers that take away the weakness of one style of cooking with the strength of the other.

A perfect example is when a pellet grill is paired with a high heat grill. Pellet grills notoriously aren’t the best at searing, while other types of grills may not smoke as well or as easily as a pellet grill. Broil King was at the HPBExpo last week with two new hybrid grills that feature the convenience of pellet cooking with another style of grill.

Keg Kamado iQue

For those new to the Broil King brand, iQue is their connected technology that lets you control your grill from anywhere. They even have it on gas grills that offers control from your phone, instead of just reading temperatures like other brands.

Broil King teased their iQue technology coming to their Keg Kamado grill a little while ago. We’ve been eagerly awaiting its release, but were worried that it wasn’t going to make it to market because there were no more developments.

I’m excited to report the Keg Kamado iQue is in fact coming out this year. Broil King had it in the flesh at the HPBExpo.

A Kamado style cooker that has connected controls is cool enough, but Broil King takes it a step further. Not only can it be fueled with charcoal like other Kamados, it also has a pellet hopper to be used as a pellet grill.

That offers the ultimate in convenience and a different flavor profile than cooking with charcoal. It also has other great features like easy cleaning and accessories to add to its versatility.

Baron Gas and Pellet Hybrid

While I had been expecting the Keg Kamado iQue, Broil King had another innovation that was a complete surprise at the expo. They had a Baron gas grill that also will be a hybrid grill.

I say it will be because right now it’s hybrid capable, but Broil King hasn’t released the kit to make it a hybrid. They are going to release a pellet kit for it, so it will be able to operate as a pellet grill. It will be complete with a pellet hopper and the fire pot will be underneath the cooking grates.

The conversion for it will be coming out in the coming months, so the details are a little tight lipped. I really like all the innovation that Broil King is bringing though, and I’m excited for the official release.
