When you think of Breeo fire pits, you think of thick stainless steel and quality. That’s what they built their name on and that’s exactly how they built their new Live-Fire Grill. They sent me one to test out, and it definitely lived up to expectations.

It’s designed similar to their smokeless fire pits, in fact it looks like a fire pit cut in half. There are some tweaks to make it easier for live fire cooking though. It has an removeable ash pan for easy clean-up, and you can control airflow on the bottom.

Assembly and Quality

Putting together the Live-Fire Grill is a straight-forward process. The pieces are all pretty heavy, given the thick stainless steel, so it’ll go easier if you have someone to help.

You’re greeted by the unmatched quality of the grill when you’re unpacking it and starting to put it together. The hardware for it looks like something my grandpa would have used.

There’s Ziploc bags of stainless steel bolts, flat washers and lock washers. That’s exactly what you want from construction. The number of bolts that attach the legs to the shelves is more than you’d need, and every bolt has a flat washer and a lock washer.

I could kick this grill off my deck and I feel like it would survive unscathed. With that though be forewarned that it will take a little extra time to put together. Putting all those washers on and the bolts in all the holes is easy, but time consuming.

One area that I see some brands skip on is their side shelves. I don’t like when they feel flimsy, but these have heavy duty hardware and give me confidence to put heavy food on them.

Cooking on the Grill

If you’re used to cooking on a charcoal kettle grill, this will be a bit of an adjustment. The bottom of the grill is flat, it has a wide diameter, and it’s more shallow than you’d expect.

That creates a bit of a learning curve, but with it’s height, design, and accessories it’s easier than cooking over a fire pit. Once you get the hang of it too, it’s really fun and rewarding to cook on.

Accessories

The accessories for the grill are as well designed as the fire pit itself. I would recommend buying one of the grill packages with accessories included, because you can’t do much without them.

The Outpost Grill is a must have for cooking. It’s a circular cooking grate that’s mounted on a post that attaches to the grill body. It gives you infinite possibilities for temperature control because it can move side to side or be raised and lowered.

When I started cooking on it, I wished I had a large cover for it because it was the dead of winter. Luckily, Breeo released just that with the Dome. I’d recommend getting that because it locks in the heat and allows more cooking options, especially in bad weather.

The Flat Top Griddle also worked exceptionally well. It’s made from thick steel and it comes seasoned out of the box. I didn’t know how well it would perform because the first time I tried it out it was around 20 degrees F out and windy.

I made a thick bed a coals underneath it, and it easily got to temperatures over 500 degrees F, as tested with an infrared thermometer. It also held the temperatures for a really long time.

Pros

  • Quality – I hope your kids want it, because it will last that long.
  • Versatility – With the available accessories, you can grill, griddle, make pizza, and whole bunch of other techniques.
  • Fun – It’s a blast to cook on and learn how to use it.

Cons

  • Need to Buy Accessories – While it’s great that you can buy every accessory you’d want, I wish it would come with some.
  • Mobility – This is only an issue for people that keep their grill in the garage. It doesn’t have any wheels, and it’s heavy, so it’s not easy to move around.

Breeo Ecosystem

One final point worth mentioning is it’s nice that Breeo has created an ecosystem around their products. All the cooking accessories for the Live-Fire Grill also work with their X24 fire pit. That makes the value even better when you have both the grill and the fire pit.
