Blues Hog Charcoal Storage Facility Burns Down in Missouri

Unfortunate news from New Haven, Missouri, a Blues Hog storage facility caught fire on Thursday. It contained a large amount of charcoal, and other barbecue supplies.

Blues Hog makes high quality charcoal, which is great for grilling. Conversely, it’s also why the fire in the storage facility is estimated to burn for several days.

In an email to The Missourian, a coordinator for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources said there isn’t a threat to surrounding areas.

After monitoring these areas, the SOSCs determined there was not a threat to the surrounding areas and relayed this information back to the New Haven fire chief

Cody Strawman, Missouri Department of Natural Resources

It’s an unavoidable hazard with fuel storage and production. Even with a focus on fire safety, there are frequent fires in the sector.

It’s an unfortunate circumstance but we’re glad no one was injured. Our warehouse in New Haven is used for excess storage and we are very thankful for our local firefighters’ quick response to limit the damage and protect the surrounding businesses.

Tim Scheer, Owner of Blues Hog

We hope that the nearby residents stay safe and that Blues Hog doesn’t have too much disruption in their business from the fire.
