Two things that are distinctly American are barbecue and bourbon. They both have rich history and they’re bonded together by charred wood.
To bring them together even more, Big Green Egg has partnered with ASW Distillery to release Fiddler Big Green Egg Bourbon. It’s not just a branding partnership either, the famous Egg is actually used in the bourbon creation process.
As Atlantan as Traffic on 285
Not only are the flavor profiles of bourbon and barbecue a good match, but Big Green Egg and ASW Distillery pair well from their roots in Atlanta. ASW was founded there, and Big Green Egg has been an Atlanta icon for over 50 years.
That shared background carried over to the bourbon, which is finished with staves from downed Georgia White Oak to enrich the flavor. The staves were smoked on an Egg with two different methods.

Just like cooking meat on an Egg, some staves were smoked with indirect heat, while others were charred with direct heat. The different staves create different notes for the bourbon.
Both single barrels were aged for 4 years before being rebarreled for the final months of aging. The charred oak was barreled at at 59.6% ABV while the toasted oak was barreled at 59.9% ABV.
Release Event
I’m not sure if there will be other opportunities in the future, but a sure way to get your hands on a bottle of the special bourbon is at an upcoming release event. It’s taking place on May 10th at the ASW Distillery in Atlanta.
In addition to being able to go home with at least one bottle of bourbon, the event will be a great time. It has food cooked on a Big Green Egg, live music, and obviously cocktails.
