Char-Broil is at the forefront of electric grill development. They are the only major player in the market that is offering full-sized electric grills. Not only do they offer them, but as we’ve seen in testing the US market Char-Broil EDGE and the Current Backyard (a Char-Broil sister company) Model G, they give a gas-like grilling experience.
The EVOLVE platform drives home the idea that gas and electric grills from Char-Boil are becoming more interchangeable. Both the gas and electric models look the same, and even have the same specs.

Appearance
With its modern lines and dark grey color, the EVOLVE grill is a great looking addition to a patio. The large, colorful display sits front and center on the grill to add to its modern vibes while providing vital information about your cook. The grill cabinet adds some extra storage space on the electric version and hides the propane tank on the gas configuration.
Smart Technology
The controller on the EVOLVE looks very similar, if not the same, as the controller on the Current Backyard Model G that we’ve been testing. It’s easy to read, responsive, and has ports for up to four temperature probes.
It connects to your phone through WiFi and Bluetooth so you can control your grill from anywhere. The Char-Broil app has all the features that you’d expect from a grilling app including read-outs for the temperature of the grill and probes, the ability to control temperature, recipes, and timers.
Char-Broil is the only company offering connected electric grilling without spending considerably more money. Similarly, they are one of a few that are offering connected gas grilling at this price, and the only one with multiple zones.
