To go with the recent release of a new Pit Boss Pro Series pellet grill, Pit Boss has just released a new Pro Series Elite 6-Series vertical pellet grill. The new vertical smoker brings with it some key enhancements from the pellet grill of the same series.

New Controller
Our favorite features from the new Pro Series Elite pellet grill made it over to this vertical pellet grill. This vertical smoker features Pit Boss’ new touchscreen controller, which looks great and promises more smoke flavor.
It uses what Pit Boss calls Variable Smoke Technology (VST), which is supposed to bring the best features of two different controller types. PID controllers do a great job keeping temperature, but it can be almost too good, and minimal smoke is produced. Cycle based controllers on the other hand, don’t keep temperature as well, but produce more smoke flavor. VST is supposed to offer both pros, more smoke, while holding temp.
While we don’t know how practical it is, the controller also can orientation change. What that means is when you fold down the side shelf, the numbers and letters on the controller turn, so they’re still face-up for reading.
There’s a good chance that you’re going to have the side shelf up when cooking, so this probably won’t come in handy too often. It will be neat to show your friends though.
Lights Inside and Outside
One thing that many pellet grills are lacking are lights. Between long smokes, and early winter sunsets, you’re often cooking when it’s dark out and need light. The new Pit Boss Pro Series vertical pellet grill thankfully comes with not one, but two lights.
There’s an LED light inside the cabinet, so you can keep an eye on your food, and another on the outside of the smoker. This LED light is pointed at the side shelf, so you can see your prep space.
Other Great Features
Large Pellet Hopper
The new Pro Series vertical smoker also has some other features that add convenience. While not quite as big as the one on the Nexgrill vertical smoker, with a 70 lb pellet hopper on the Pro Series, you can smoke for a really long time. That should equate to days of smoking on end.
Rapid Ignitor
Carried over from Pit Boss’ new Pro pellet grill, this vertical pellet smoker has the new ignitor system. Featuring a larger ignitor, it will get your smoker up to temp cooker than previous models.
Removeable Ash Management
Camp Chef has had it for a while, but now we’re seeing across the industry an easy cleanout becoming standard. It’s for good reason, because it’s much easier than breaking out a shop vac for cleaning. This smoker has an easy cleanout that’s accessible in the front of the cabinet.
