Outdoor pizza ovens have grown tremendously in popularity over the past five years. With their high heat, they offer a way to make better pizzas than even most pizzerias.
Current Backyard, a sister company to grill industry leader Charbroil, has been working hard to revolutionize electric grilling. Now they’re expanding their electric innovation to the pizza oven world.
They’ve unveiled the new CURRENT Model P Smart Pizza Oven at the Consumer Electronics Expo (CES). This is Current Backyard’s second year in a row at CES, which is home to technological innovation. If you’re attending CES, you can see the new oven firsthand at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in the Shoreline Exhibit Hall.
The Model P Smart Pizza Oven isn’t just about making pizza—it’s about eliminating limitations. Whether you live in an apartment or have a backyard kitchen, this oven adapts to your lifestyle, offering unparalleled convenience, performance, and flavor.

Smart Pizza Oven
The Model P produces even heat from underneath with graphite and Calrod elements, and all that heat is retained in the stone. It has a door on the front of the oven to lock in the heat, which means no turning of your pizza isn’t necessary. A gas or wood oven has one section that produces fire for heat, so you have to turn your pizza to cook it evenly.
That change in how it’s heated makes it much easier to have perfectly cooked pizza. It’s not the only way though, the Model P is also the smartest electric pizza oven on the market.
The oven connects to a smartphone app to make the process even easier. On the app there’s a Pizza Build Calculator where it picks the perfect time and temperature based on your chosen amounts of sauce, cheese, toppings and even dough thickness.
Great For Houses or Apartments
Electricity as a fuel source is obviously a great choice for an apartment. Often, you aren’t allowed to cook with fire on a balcony for safety reasons, so you’re restricted on what you can use.
The Model P pizza oven is is NFPA-approved for use indoors or outside. That means you can have some fun cooking outside with it, enjoy the weather, and not have to worry as much about the mess. In an apartment, getting the freedom to cook outside is always refreshing.
For a pizza oven there’s going to be no taste difference between gas and electricity. Even when cooking with wood, a pizza cooks in two minutes, so there’s only so much flavor you can impart.
That’s why it’s great for a house too. You aren’t sacrificing flavor for convenience with the Model P.
Priced Right
Current Backyard picked a perfect price point for this pizza oven. There are two main categories of electric pizza ovens. For around $400 or under there are bunch of electric pizza ovens that don’t have a lot of features, and they don’t have the performance of outdoor gas ovens.
For an electric pizza oven with high performance, comparable to a gas or wood oven, the prices jump to $800+. A Breville oven is $800, an Ooni Volt is $900, while the CURRENT Model P has improved features and sits at just $599.
