Weber launched the Slate griddle in the US at the start of the year. Unlike their first crack at a griddle, that was an adapted gas grill, the Slate is purpose-built for griddling.
It has a sleek design and edge-to-edge heating, but really sets it apart from other grills is its griddle plate. It come pre-seasoned, which saves time on initial setup, and gives it the added protection of rust resistance.
The Slate has now made it’s way overseas to the Australia and New Zealand markets, with the promise that it’s different from the flat-tops that consumers are used to cooking on. To help with the launch Weber has teamed with famous chef and restaurateur Jamie Oliver.
Working with Weber Australia and New Zealand – who have the best barbecue kit on the market – is so exciting. I can’t wait to create some outrageously delicious recipes for the brilliant people of Australia and New Zealand, who have always been so kind to me and who love to fire up their barbecues! Get ready for some banging dishes

Throughout the summer Jamie is going to release recipes for the Slate. He’s also going to team up with the Southern Hemisphere’s first Weber Grill Master, Laura Romeo, on a series of videos called “Slate Nights, Early Mornings”.
Jamie is UK based, so he’ll be cooking up breakfast in the videos, while Laura is in Adelaide, so she’ll be cooking up dinner. The videos show the versatility of the Slate griddle to be able to cook any meal.
As it gets further into the summer in Australia and New Zealand, Jamie is also going to release content for the Weber Q. The popular Weber Q and Q+ barbecues were redesigned and released last year.
I love cooking on the Weber Q+ barbecue, as there’s just so much you can do with it! It’s never been easier to cook up simple, flavour-packed meals that will impress, whatever the occasion. I’ve got all the tips and tricks you need to make the most of it.
